MEMBER FAQ:NON-DISCRIMINATION

You may have noticed additional information written in multiple languages in some of the materials you’ve received from Viva Health. Here are some questions and answers that will help explain the extra information:

WHAT IS THIS NEW INFORMATION?

This new information comes from a non-discrimination provision in the Affordable Care Act. The provision prohibits discrimination in health coverage and care based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO Viva Health AND ITS MEMBERS?

As part of the requirement, insurance companies and health care providers issue new, standard notices to their members and patients about their rights. This includes providing information to people with limited English proficiency so that they know their right to receive free language assistance services. To communicate that message, Viva Health includes taglines written in Alabama’s top non-English languages in many of our materials.
