Our employees give us their time and knowledge
by volunteering at various nonprofit agencies, and our financial donations and sponsorships are an additional avenue for giving back in a tangible way.

We are committed to supporting agencies whose values align with our own in areas such as diversity, health disparities, and physical and mental well-being. Though not all-inclusive, here is a look at some of our community partners.

Heart Walk

The American Heart Association (AHA) works to equitably increase healthy life expectancy by addressing both physical and mental well-being. Viva Health has maintained a longstanding partnership with AHA that spans many years. Our employees participate in the Birmingham Heart Walk by raising money and engaging on event day each year. Funds raised are used to support patients, families, and communities and the vast research and education projects that help fight cardiovascular disease.

Providing internships to high school students since 2007
Viva Health is proud to be one of the founding corporate sponsors of Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School located in Ensley. The Cristo Rey network of private Catholic high schools serves students from economically challenged families. It integrates a rigorous college-preparatory academic curriculum with four years of professional work experience through internships with corporate sponsors. Interns rotate through departments beginning each August.
Athletics & Minority Health Disparities
From basketball and football to academic and health aspirations, Viva Health is a tremendous supporter of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of the nation’s leading medical schools and hospital systems.
Professional etiquette, character development, personal goals & more
In 2019, Viva Health launched a work-based volunteer program with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Birmingham. The program included 12 7th grade students from Birmingham’s JW Christian School who were paired with Viva employees as mentors. Prior to the pandemic, the group met biweekly at the corporate office and explored topics such as professional etiquette, character development, personal goals and more. Supported by annual financial donations from Viva, this outreach program offers a convenient opportunity for mentorship and community engagement.
Dedicated to funding the early detection of ovarian cancer
The Laura Crandall Brown Foundation is the only nonprofit organization in Alabama whose research focus is dedicated solely to funding the early detection of ovarian cancer. LCBF also provides services to gynecologic cancer patients through support group meetings, peer mentoring, and patient assistance grants. We maintain a fond connection to the foundation, which was founded in the name of a former Viva Health employee.
