What is the
Medicare Star Rating?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) uses the Star rating system to show how well a Medicare Advantage plan performs for the people on the plan.

Star Ratings go from 1 - 5

The higher the star rating, the better a plan does at serving
its members and ensuring they get the best care possible.

With a star rating, Medicare beneficiaries can see a single summary score that makes it
easy for them to compare plans. A rating of 4 Stars or higher means a Medicare Advantage plan can enhance its benefits and pass along the savings to its members. Advantage plan can

Every year, Medicare beneficiaries receive a CAHPS Survey from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This survey is designed to assess patient experience in a specific health care setting and help identify where Medicare Advantage plans are performing poorly and exceptionally.
