Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to sign a Primary Care Provider (PCP), Specialist, or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) contract?

By signing a PCP, Specialist, or APP contract with Viva Health, you become part of Viva Health’s highly regarded network of Alabama providers and hospitals. Our goal in collaborating with you as a provider is to innovate and improve access to health care across the state.

How long does it usually take to receive an executed contract back from this plan?

The typical turnaround time to receive the signed contract is approximately 90 days from submission. Execution time is sometimes shorter or longer depending on current volume.

How can I participate in all of Viva Health’s networks?

The first step in participating in our network is by signing a contract. Once you become a contracted provider, you will see that Viva Health has several clients and products that offer limited networks to plan members. These networks tend to be centered around geographic areas or hospitals and physicians associated with an employer. These networks are opt out designs in that they are built in partnership with Viva Health and the employer. Providers cannot choose to participate in these limited networks.

How do I request a copy of the Viva Health fee schedule?

Providers may request a copy of the fee schedule by emailing vivaparticipation@uabmc.edu.

How do I offer Viva Health to my own employees?

Thanks to our focus on fostering long-term and meaningful relationship with our provider networks, many provider offices like to offer our plan to their employees as either a primary or dual plan option. If you are considering a Viva Health plan for your employees, please contact Samantha Young at (205) 558-7618 or sbyoung@uabmc.edu.

Whom do I contact if I have additional questions?

You may contact our Provider Development team directly by emailing vivaparticipation@uabmc.edu and a team member will be sure to provide a prompt and timely response to all questions.
